Chris Webby Show Makes History In Ann Arbor

Chris Webby Show Blew The Roof Off The Blind Pig From Start To Finish

Written By: Sid Jones

Chris Webby hit Ann Arbor, Michigan on November 6th, 2018. People in attendance will never forget that night. This was the night that recreational use of marijuana was legalized in the Mitten.

From the high octane energy, to the historic election, the Blind Pig was the place to be. It was the show most have dreamt of being apart of. It’s a lot to break down, so we’re gonna do this the right way.

Chris Webby is, undoubtedly one of the greatest performers in hip hop. I’m not even sure that’s the correct label to put on him. From what I witnessed, it was a genre in of itself.

Opening The Flood Gate To Bedlam

Most artists are not a fan of being the first one on stage. I’ll be honest, I can understand. When I see one of my friends, or favorite artists take stage first, I don’t get too excited.

Last night, changed my mind completely. Ann Arbor stood up and praised the performance of REDD. Immediately, their hands in the air and packing the floor. That was one of the greatest receptions to an artist I had ever witnessed.

I’m a huge fan of REDD. Seeing him standing amongst the ocean of people to kick the show off? I wouldn’t have traded that for anything.

As a bonus, he looks at all of us and asks for Rocky Wallace to join him on stage. The crowd erupted. REDD and Rocky were headliners that opened the show.

One of the most remarkable moments of the night.

First Time For Everything RAW

I have never listened to Chris Webby’s music. Which also means, I have never seen him live. Last night, was the first time and I am now a Chris Webby fan.

One of the things I look at when attending a show is the crowd. Ann Arbor is a college town and the U of M is an institution of music fans. Last night was plenty proof.

There were all walks of life on that floor. I’m happy to say I was one of them. Everyone around me, singing the lyrics back at Chris Webby and chanting his name.

It wasn’t just the music, it was the people that made me a fan of Webby. I talked to people outside the venue to get their thoughts. The most common thing they said to me was, “I can’t believe he’s playing a small venue like this.”

After last night, I can’t wait to see him perform again.
