Snow Tha Product Leaving Atlantic?

Snow Tha Product Is Reportedly Parting Ways With Atlantic Records

Written By: Sid Jones

Snow Tha Product has been a huge part of the underground and mainstream. It’s been stated, according to a Facebook post that she is, in fact leaving Atlantic. The reasons are unclear, but here at RoxxxTV there’s a few theories being passed around. The general consensus has been broken down into three main things. These are the most common reasons why artists have parted ways and moved onto something else. We are no stranger to this and this doesn’t have to result in any kind of turmoil. Sometimes it’s mutual. Again, this isn’t to judge Snow or Atlantic. With that said, let’s begin.

Exploring New Options

The first and most obvious reason would be that Snow Tha Product has decided to move on into uncharted waters. Labels have a tendency to take away creative control. This could be a reason for her departure. Severing ties would be a huge benefit. However, this has opened up the flood gates for offers from other labels. If she pursues her music as an unsigned/independent artist, she would then become a more lucrative and sought out product. With complete control over her music and creative ways, she has an opportunity to shine.

Atlantic Changed Direction

It’s not uncommon for labels to change. They constantly go through artists and funds. In order to keep up with the scene, the demand and so on, it becomes harder for a label to maintain their original goals. Atlantic is a rapidly growing independent label. Some of the music draw could have changed perspective and ultimately, decisions. With thousands of up and coming artists, it’s hard to stick with the same formula, years after being established. For instance, if you and your friend started a record label, it would be a lot of work.

Suddenly, you’re contending with mainstream labels. Now, you have to change things and draw a line in the sand. Maybe you have to sell your morals, maybe you don’t. In the early stages of a label, it’s common for rappers to be signed and dropped. Maybe Atlantic got a taste of being a mainstream label and changed policies.

Politics In the Industry

This was the one we all agreed on. The music scene has become a political battlefield. We use the term, “cutthroat” to describe the business. We use it so often, it doesn’t even seem that bad. However, when it comes down to it hip-hop is a breeding ground for warfare. Both literally and metaphorically. Perhaps the label was doing something Snow didn’t agree with. Maybe Atlantic no longer wanted that style of artist on their label.

Money tends to be a key factor as well. With that said, money is also a key factor in politics. The other part of it is outside influence. Even social media and political correctness. It’s all tied into a machine. That machine will choose money every time. That’s what labels are there for. Making money off artists. Perhaps Snow Tha Product was no longer wanting to be in that kind of household.

Whatever the case may be, everyone here at RoxxxTV wishes nothing but the best for Snow Tha Product. She will continue to make music and sell out shows. It’s very clear to everyone that she’s an artist that no longer needs the backing of a record label. Atlantic, or otherwise. With that said, if she’s a free agent many labels will have their wallets opened. It’s going to be a bidding war for this talented artist. It’ll be interesting to see what happens.
