Rocky Is The Rihanna Of The Underground

Rocky Brings Soul To The Underground

Written By: Sid Jones

Rocky Wallace is the voice we truly need. When I first heard her, I was amazed by her talent. She has a wide range and incredible skills that should be praised. Signed to Zen Bulldog Entertainment, she’s working with some of the best in the business. She’s a solo act that can work with anyone that comes to mind. Remember Monster from Eminem featuring Rihanna? She can top that with any artist she chooses. Rocky has the potential to bring us to the surface and into the light of mainstream audiences. You’re about to find out how.

One of the problems we’re having is an oversaturated market. Mainly, the horrorcore scene. Don’t get me wrong, I love horrorcore music. I have voiced that very clearly. However, some of my favorite songs are Lift Me Up from Twiztid and Escape Artist from Blaze Ya Dead Homie. Yes, they have horrorcore elements to some extent. The beat and the way these artists rap breaks away from generic horror rap. Violent music caters to our primitive emotion, anger. The easiest to cater to. There’s nothing wrong with that by any means. I’m all for venting through music. Rocky does the same thing, only with our more complex emotions. Her songs are the perfect soundtrack for those moments we don’t know how to handle.

If I could pick an artist for her to work with, it would be Redd. Redd’s music does the same thing. The chemistry between their beats and lyrics is thick. If you’re a fan of Redd, you’ll love Rocky’s song Hallucinate featuring the red headed MC. That’s a promise. A more challenging combination that I would give all my money to hear? Rocky and G-Mo Skee. The reason being is the polar opposite sound. G-Mo Skee and Rocky could be the response to Monster and In Your Head. Think of the dark humor G-Mo utilizes in his songs and combine that with Rocky’s more serious and soul style. If this is hard for you to imagine, we have two songs chosen for your listening pleasure.

Now add Rocky’s very own Single Forever and imagine her adding 16 bars to Ignant

Now you get it. Majik Ninja Entertainment, Zen Bull Dog Entertainment, please make this happen!

I think I made my point. If you’re still not convinced, you could use Young Wicked as a prime example of someone Rocky could match in the studio. After listening to Still I Rise, you could imagine what I’m hearing in my mind. Personally, I think artists could learn more from Rocky Wallace than she could from them. I just want to see her clash with the best we all know and love. It would be beneficial for anyone working with her. In trade, we would end up with a crucial and beloved album, or at the very least an incredible single.
